Summary:
Zapata Technology is seeking an experienced Fires Support SME to provide subject matter expertise in the planning, coordination, and execution of fire support operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operating and integrating fire support and command-and-control systems, validating network architectures through test events, and supporting Naval, Joint, and Coalition interoperability. This role requires hands-on experience with systems such as AFATDS, JADOCS, Joint Targeting Toolbox, and THSv2, along with a proven ability to support test activities, develop scenarios, and transition validated processes to operational forces.
Job Duties:
- Establish and operate a Fire Support Cell to coordinate fires, process calls for fire and perform basic targeting/weaponeering using integrated fire-support and C2 systems.
- Create and execute scenarios and vignettes to validate fire-support systems and network architectures for Naval, Joint, and Coalition events.
- Develop and run test cases for AFATDS and Target Handoff System v2 (THSv2) to support government acceptance and Joint Interoperability Certification.
- Provide Fire Support subject-matter expertise during MCTSSA test events as required.
- Assist in transitioning validated architectures, processes, and system configurations to the Fleet Marine Force.
- Operate AFATDS, JADOCS, and the Joint Targeting Toolbox from the Fires Support Coordination Center (FSCC) perspective.
- Operate THSv2 from the Joint Fires Observer (JFO) and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) perspectives.
Job Qualifications:
- Proven experience establishing and running a Fire Support Cell and coordinating fires with integrated fire-support and C2 systems.
- Experience designing and executing validation scenarios/vignettes for Naval, Joint, and Coalition test events.
- Hands-on experience developing and executing test cases for AFATDS and THSv2, including familiarity with government acceptance processes and Joint Interoperability Certification requirements.
- Prior work as a Fire Support SME supporting MCTSSA or similar test organizations.
- Experience transitioning validated network/system architectures, procedures, and configurations into Fleet Marine Force operations.
- Operational proficiency with AFATDS, JADOCS, Joint Targeting Toolbox, and THSv2 from FSCC, JFO, and JTAC perspectives.
- Strong understanding of integrated network architectures, interoperability testing, and fire-support/C2 system integration.
Education/Experience required:
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience.
- 3 years of experience can be substituted by completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and two years of experience can be substituted by completion of a Master’s degree in a related field
Working Conditions:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Using standard office equipment.
