ZMonitor is Zapata Technology’s web-based, highly scalable and customizable tool designed to perform near real-time monitoring of data systems, services, and infrastructure. Deployed in active defense programs, ZMonitor provides mission-critical visibility into the health and status of data pipelines, system resources, and operational services.
What ZMonitor Does
ZMonitor performs health checks on the status of data ingestion, replication, system resources and services, and provides visualization of data progression across the enterprise. It allows for multi-server remote monitoring, giving operations teams a single pane of glass into distributed system health.
Each monitored item is periodically checked against expected conditions and reported in one of four color-coded statuses: green (OK), yellow (Warning), red (Critical), and gray (Static/None). This color-coding allows operators to quickly respond to issues, minimizing potential data loss or service disruption.
Key Capabilities
- Apache NiFi Monitoring: Purpose-built monitoring for NiFi data flows, processor health, queue depths, and throughput metrics
- Data Trend Analysis: Tracks data volume trends over time to identify anomalies, drops, or spikes in ingestion rates
- Software Service Monitoring: Monitors the health and availability of critical software services using Linux/Windows shell commands and scripts
- File System Monitoring: Tracks directory sizes, file counts, and storage utilization to prevent capacity issues
- Database Record Counts: Monitors database table sizes and record counts to verify data completeness
- SSL Keystore Monitoring: Tracks certificate expiration dates and keystore health to prevent security lapses
- Export Queue Tracking: Monitors export queues to ensure data dissemination keeps pace with ingestion
- Multi-Server Remote Monitoring: Centralized monitoring dashboard for distributed systems across multiple servers and environments
Integration with Zapata Products
ZMonitor is designed to work alongside Zapata Technology’s other products. It provides operational monitoring for ZIngest data pipelines, ensuring ETL processes run smoothly and data flows remain healthy. Combined with CASCADE and LIGHTNER, ZMonitor completes Zapata’s end-to-end data operations stack for defense environments.
